Villa Nabu is a sublime waterfront palace located in Abu Dhabi. The client wanted to retain the feeling of Middle Eastern culture and architecture, but only in a subtle way. So we created a modern home with Islamic architectural touches using ordered repetition, radiating structures and rhythmic geometric patterns to bring the Middle Eastern flavour into the design without dominating it. We created light rooms, using soft, muted colours and brought lots of natural greenery into the inside, creating cooling interior gardens in various places throughout the home. The lighting choices compliment the soaring ceilings and the handmade mosaiced columns, with the hallway in particular boasting some stunning wall sconces. The whole project has a minimal, calm feel to it – it’s a neutral, toned-down, peaceful design. There is no clutter or unnecessary furniture, just beauty and space.
